Hijabi OOTD Gift

Hello people of Earth! How do you do?

Yes, it’s been quite a while, but we have good reasons: we’ve been finishing senior projects, studying, graduating, and all the usual stuff normal human beings tend to do. (No, don’t tell me that’s what they all say, I’m trying to justify our extremely long absence okay?)

Anywho, now it’s summer, and we are ready to kickstart this vacation with some awesome recipes for all of you. *spreads arms around to audience*

But before that, we want to show you a cute little project we’ve recently done for our messy cousin. You see, our cousin Leen to a giant leap and decided to start wearing hijab. In islam, wearing hijab (or veil) is very significant to muslim women. It signifies modesty and integrity, and though many think it is simply just a piece of cloth worn on a woman’s head, it is much more than that. It protects a woman from anything that may shatter her honor and puts her in a place of respect by others, because she is not afraid to show the world that she is proudly practicing her religion and belief. It leads her to practice morals and good behaviour and spread a message of peace to those around her. It connects her to her God and purifies her-

Okay, I think you got the idea? Just got passionate for a while there :)

So we wanted to give Leen something cute and useful, not just sheilas! (aka headscarves, which is the usual gift)

We thought of creating a cute hijabi outfit for her, from top to bottom. We matched her a scarf, shirt, jacket, skirt, and even shoes and pins! We thought of wrapping each item individually and placing all of them together in a basket.

And here’s the outfit!

Isn’t it adorable?

An outfit isn’t complete without accessories!

We thought it’d be cute to wrap each piece in funky patterned tissue paper, which we bought from Hallmark,

Then place them all together in this basket. (purchased from Daiso)

Since the basket is pretty simple, we weaved some pink ribbon through it to make it more girly.

We chose a light and hot pink ribbons and wevaed them through the first two rows, to make it simple and not too colorful.

Just tie them at the end, and cut!

Something still looked missing, so we placed a hair bow in the center to balance things out.

This was also from Daiso.

Huge difference, right?

Now for the packaging!

We folded each item neatly and carefully..

To make the gift more customized, we made labels using lamination sheets!

For each item, we cut out a shape, drew the item, then wrote “Leen hijabi OOTD”

It added a special touch to the whole thing :)

On and on we wrapped..

Is that what I think it is?

Uh oh. Cookie just couldn’t control her cravings!

Until we finally finished.

For the shoes, we placed them in a paper bag,

Then put that paper bag into another one,

So it kinda looked like a shoe box.

brown paper packages tied up with string~

We even made leen her very own hair pins!

We superglued these flowers (which we bought from Daiso) to different colored hair pins.
